Dress Code

Prestbury Golf Club seeks to promote a friendly and relaxed atmosphere with a contemporary dress code while respecting golfing traditions and maintaining reasonable standards of dress both on the course and in the clubhouse.

On the Course, Putting Green, and Practice Ground:

Smart conventional golf clothing should be worn. In deciding what is acceptable, if clothing is specifically designed for golf or is sold in the professional’s shop, then it is deemed to be acceptable.

The following are not seen as acceptable attire: tracksuits, “cargo style” trousers, gym wear, football or rugby shirts or similar – none of these are acceptable anywhere in any area of the Club.

Shorts should be tailored, knee length and may be worn with predominantly white socks, either short ankle sports socks (including trainer liner socks) or knee length.

Men’s shirts must have collars and sleeves and be worn tucked into trousers or shorts.

Lady’s golf shirts that have been designed/tailored to wear outside trousers/shorts/skirts etc. may be worn. All other shirts must be tucked in.

Shoes should be specifically designed for golf. For safety, metal spikes are permitted on the course during the winter months.

When worn on the course, headgear should have any peak facing forward.

Leaving the Course:

Headwear and waterproof clothing should be left in the locker rooms, as they are not allowed in the main Clubhouse.

In the Clubhouse:

During the playing season (1st April to 31st October), clean, dry, spikeless and soft spike golf shoes may be worn on the ground floor. From 1st November to 31st March, golf shoes are not permitted anywhere in the Clubhouse except the locker rooms.

Smart, clean, and dry golf clothing or smart casual clothes, including smart jeans (not faded or torn) are acceptable in the Clubhouse and may be worn for presentations.

Gentlemen are not permitted to wear flip flops and should always wear socks unless wearing “loafer style shoes”. Jackets and ties are no longer mandatory in any part of the clubhouse. Club events will always specify a dress code.

Adherence to the Club’s Dress Code is part of the Members’ Code of Conduct. Failure to observe these minimum expectations may result in being asked to leave the course and/or clubhouse. The Management, staff and Professionals have the authority to challenge any person improperly or unsuitably dressed, but we would hope and expect that members and guests will show consideration and make the effort to meet these dress rules so that we can all enjoy our golf and social time together.
