Situated in the beautiful Cheshire countryside just 15 miles south of Manchester on the outskirts of Macclesfield, Prestbury Golf Club was founded in 1920 and boasts a Harry Colt designed course ranked by Golf World and National Club Golfer as one of the Top 100 in England.
The course makes the most of the dramatic changes in elevation afforded by the hilly terrain. The nature of the site coupled with the sandy subsoil means that the course drains exceptionally well.
We take great pride in describing ourselves as a true, traditional private members’ Club. Our focus is on golf and delivering the best possible service to our members.
PGG appears in the May 2021 edition of Golf Monthly magazine in their regular "Must Play" feature.
The article mentions that "Harry Colt was the man tasked with creating the course back in 1920, and as ever, the master designer made excellent use of the natural terrain, picking out some excellent green sites, including the distinctive shelf greens on the 3rd and 5th holes. Reflecting on his work some years later, Colt commented that 'every hole presents some distinct feature of an impressive character' and few who have played here over the years would disagree."

The magazine also includes Golf Monthly's new 2021/22 rankings of the Top 100 Courses in the UK & Ireland. Although PGC is not included in their Top 100 we do appear as a new entry in their list of the next 100. Click here to see their list of the next 100 in full.
"It may not be the longest, but Harry Colt's Cheshire delight fully deserves its place at the top table of English inland golf."
The December 2021 issue of National Club Golfer magazine features their updated Top 100 Golf Courses in England ranking for 2022.
Back in 2018 National Club Golfer published their first ever ranking of England's best golf courses and we were very pleased to discover that they had included Prestbury at number 74. "Four years on, it was time to update the list. After all, there were potential new entries – the likes of the JCB Club and Royal Norwich. There are huge redesign projects – like Chart Hills, The Addington and Liphook. And just about every course on the list have been working hard to improve what they already had."
Therefore we are now delighted to announce that Prestbury has climbed four places to number 70 in the latest edition.
