Welcome to Prestbury Golf Club

Situated in the beautiful Cheshire countryside just 15 miles south of Manchester on the outskirts of Macclesfield, Prestbury Golf Club was founded in 1920 and boasts a Harry Colt designed course ranked by Golf World and National Club Golfer as one of the Top 100 in England.

The course makes the most of the dramatic changes in elevation afforded by the hilly terrain. The nature of the site coupled with the sandy subsoil means that the course drains exceptionally well and, unlike many others in the area, rarely closes due to heavy rainfall.

We take great pride in describing ourselves as a true, traditional private members’ Club. Our focus is on golf and delivering the best possible service to our members.

What's Happening at Prestbury Golf Club?

Golf World have ranked PGC 87th in their new 2021 list of the Top 100 Courses in England.

The experienced 11-man panel, invited to take part because of their extensive knowledge, assessed each course and said of Prestbury:

"A new entry for this Cheshire jewel, a classy parkland course designed by Harry Colt. He masterfully routed the course over often significantly rising and falling terrain to produce holes of great interest – and sublime views of the surrounding countryside. Wide playing areas and sandy soil, so it’s firm."

PGG appears in the May 2021 edition of Golf Monthly magazine in their regular "Must Play" feature.

The article mentions that "Harry Colt was the man tasked with creating the course back in 1920, and as ever, the master designer made excellent use of the natural terrain, picking out some excellent green sites, including the distinctive shelf greens on the 3rd and 5th holes. Reflecting on his work some years later, Colt commented that 'every hole presents some distinct feature of an impressive character' and few who have played here over the years would disagree."

Congratulations to Thomas Watson (Hillside) who won the 2021 Prestbury Open (Men's 36 Hole Scratch) on Friday 28th May with a total score of 141.

Tom's rounds of 74 and 67, for a one under par total, were enough to see off Peter Finch (Ashton-in-Makerfield), Josh Sims (Caldy) and Julian Wood (Hallamshire) who all finished two shots adrift on 143.
