Week 16 and our 2nd delivery of turf has arrived. 1400m2 has been laid this week on the 9th 10th 12th 14th & 15th which has been a huge effort from the contractors. This has seen the conclusion to work on these holes, including turfing of the 9th green extension.
Extra drainage work has been carried out on the fairway bunkers on the 6th hole by extending the drain line away from the bunker and thus in turn repositioning the soakaway. The area for the new approach bunker has now been stripped and this will be shaped next week.
This weekend we plan to hydroseed the bank to the left of the 5th hole with a mixture of wild Fescue grasses and wildflower seed. This will help to stabilise the bank and stop further erosion.
The 2nd 3rd & 4th will be turfed next week along with the 5th green surround. Next week will also see the shapers making progress with the remaining areas on the 1st, 6th 7th & 18th.
We have now selected the bunker sand which is of a similar particle size, distribution and shape to the sand which has been trailed in the bunkers on the 8th hole for several weeks but with a more yellow, sand like colouring.
Once we are satisfied that the turf and seed around the new bunkers is strong enough, we will then install the new sand. This will be carried out throughout the winter period leading us into the start of next season and will result in the completion of the project.
