Hole 1
Hole Description
A good opening hole that requires a straight drive to avoid trees and bunkers on either side. The longer hitters will be able to reach the green in two, although the majority of players will hit a mid-iron for the second shot leaving a short iron to the large but well protected green.

Hole 2
Hole Description
Two good shots are required to reach this green. A drive down the right hand side is the best line off the tee. The second shot is not easy to judge downwind in the summer as the fairway slopes gently towards the green and a running approach can be caught by well placed bunkers on the left and right.

Hole Description
Ideally the drive needs to reach the top of the rising ground to bring the raised green, cut into the side of the distant hill, into view. A successful long iron, all carry, to this green is one of the most satisfying shots on the course.

This tee is on top of the hill behind the third green and it requires a well hit long iron, often into a cross wind, to reach the well guarded green down below.

Hole 5
Hole Description
This hole demands accuracy and touch. From the raised tee, the green is just visible set into the hillside. A well placed, rather than a long drive down the right leaves a pitch to the green which has to be accurate to avoid the banking on the left and steep slope on the right.

Well positioned bunkers are the main hazards on this attractive hole which crosses the driveway to the Clubhouse. The short iron shot to another elevated green is deceptive.

Hole Description
A well designed short hole, often into the prevailing win, demands a well judged tee shot. Numerous difficulties await an inaccurate shot, including the old pit hole in front of the green, bunkers to the left and right and Out of Bounds at the rear of the green.

Hole Description
The first of the dog-leg holes. A long drive presents an uphill approach to the green. Judging the distance to the pin is not easy as the long narrow green sits on the brow of the incline, surrounded by bunker.

Hole 9
Hole Description
A fine signature hole which only the longer hitters will reach in two. The drive from an elevated tee across the driveway and undulating ground leaves another full shot up to a steep and narrowing fairway to a three-tiered "MacKenzie" green which is guarded by bunkers on both sides. Putting has its obvious difficulties.

Hole 10
Hole Description
One of the shortest holes on the golf course but not one to be underestimated. The tee is often sheltered from the wind causing miscalculations which can easily result in a visit to the deep bunkers or the steep slope on the right.

Hole Description
A long drive up the left hand side of the fairway avoids being blocked out by the oak tree which marks the corner of the dog-leg. Two controlled shots are then required to reach the green which slopes slightly upwards to the back.

Hole 12
Hole Description
A blind drive across the corner of an ancient and protected hedge to the elevated part of the fairway reveals a delightful view of the green below. The approach shot needs to be accurate as the green is well guarded by a brook immediately in front of it, large mature trees either side and bunker left and right.

Hole 14
Hole 13
Hole Description
Only the best drivers will reach the top of the rise and bring the green into view. The long second shot has to take into account the marked left to right slope which tends to take any balls pitching short of the green into waiting bunkers. An excellent hole where achieving a par is very satisfying for any standard of golfer.

Hole 14
Hole Description
The drive across the valley together with Out of Bounds left is daunting to many. A carry of over 160 yards is required to reach the fairway from where an accurate second shot to one of the smallest greens on the course, set at an angle and well guarded, is required.

Hole 15
Hole Description
A tricky drive which ideally requires a draw to avoid the trees on the right. However, if its overdone, Out of Bounds in the road awaits. A well placed drive laves a relatively simple approach to the green but the bunkers around the green demand that a successful approach has to be accurate. The views from this tee are exceptional.

Hole 16
Hole Description
A fine natural hole which, even though it has not bunkers, is difficult to pr. The drive to an elevated fairway has to be straight - any ball flying left is likely to end up either in the brook or in the trees. The second shot, over a grass valley and ground sloping form the right, has to be judged perfectly for the ball to finish on the green.

Hole Description
An excellent and deceptively difficult hole. The elevated teen offers fine views of the generous fairway which slopes gently upwards toward the Clubhouse. Nothing less than a well struck shot will find the well bunkered green. The slopes and borrows here make this one of the most difficult greens on the course.
