Teaching Facility

Occupying approximately 27 acres and available to members and visitors alike, our Practise Ground is the envy of the majority of Clubs. A purpose-built tee enables golfers to practise their drives and long-irons and a separate area of the tee accommodates short-iron play to target greens. The home-made, fully drained green together with bunkers allows perfect pitching practise. A small charge for the practise is payable by daily members who have paid the visitors’ fee. This is also the base for our Teaching Academy where our Teaching Professionals can analyse your swing in an indoor facility. The new Indoor Golf Studio has recently been established and incorporates the latest technology to enable the Club’s resident PGA Teaching Professionals to analyse in detail a players set-up and swing.

MARK PILLING PGA (Teaching Professional)

Based at Prestbury Golf Club since 2007 Mark has a growing reputation as one of the country’s leading young coaches. In 2010 Mark was awarded trainee coach of the year both nationally and in the North of England and, earlier this year, he joined a select group of less than 20 PGA professionals in gaining a post graduate diploma in sports coaching at the University of Birmingham.

Mark, who was awarded the golf coach of the year award during his PGA training and completion of the Advanced Certificate in Golf Coaching back in 2012, explained: “The two-year course focussed on providing an interdisciplinary approach to coaching using research from a number of disciplines including sports science, biomechanics and psychology to offer golfers of all abilities the most appropriate solutions to improve their golf game.

"My final thesis focussed on the use of 3D motion capture technology, which I now try to use on a regular basis in my studio at Prestbury".

"The course has helped me appreciate the complexity in helping players develop sustained improvement in golf and it has given me the ability to provide appropriate solutions to the right person at the right time".

"Using 3D motion capture has given me a broader understanding into how and why players move and swing the way they do".

"Specifically, it really helps me to be able to identify where the swing breaks down and what it is that is influencing this".

"I have links with the Cheshire county squad and currently coach a group of girls and boys for both the gents and ladies county unions".

"The aim of these squad sessions is to develop these young players to a sufficient standard whereby they are able to represent the county and join the county elite squads".

"As well as spending much of my time coaching many of the members at Prestbury, I am also working with, and really looking forward to watching the progress of, Prestbury’s PGA EuroPro player Daniel Osbaldeston as well as top county players James Newton and Joe Armitt throughout the busy forthcoming season".

Mark has a passion for helping golfers of all abilities and has a personal ambition to provide a world class, evidence informed coaching program at Prestbury Golf Club.If you would like to book a lesson please contact Mark via the form below or 07709 879570.
