You will have probably noticed all the work going on the course in our annual "maintenance week" when we take the opportunity of doing heavy work to ensure the ongoing quality of the greens, approaches and tees. Done at this time of year, the favourable weather should ensure a speedy return to ‘normal’. To give you an idea of the work that has been done here are some of the details:

Greens
Verti drained with ½ x 12 inch tines
1.5 tonnes per green of topdressing spread
Brushed using the sweep and fill brush then
Solid tined with 8mm x 6 inch tines
Overseeded with Browntop Bent @ 5 grams per sq. metre with a total of 50 kg of seed for the full course using a tractor mounted Vredo machine
A further ¾ tonne topdressing per green
Brushed then
Application of liquid feed including Nitrogen, Potassium, Phosphorous, Zinc, humic and Fulvic acids, biostimulants and mychorrhizae.

Putting green
As above but using Creeping Bent as a trial instead of the Browntop Bent

Tees and Approaches
Verti drained (as above)
Overseeded with Fescue to aid recovery from the drought stress
Topdressed
Brushed and then
Spot sprayed with Gramicide to remove Ryegrass

As you can imagine a lot of hard work has gone into this programme but we are sure it will bring further improvement to the course. Go try it on your lawn and see the results!

Thanks to Mark and his team for all their efforts.
